Overview from the 54th EG and 60th PG Meetings
The 54th Experts Group and 60th Policy Group meetings brought together international experts, policymakers, and industry representatives to review progress and strengthen collaboration on Generation IV nuclear systems. The programme included presentations from GIF System and Working Group participants, followed by technical discussions within the Experts Group and strategic exchanges within the Policy Group.
The EGPG hosted the first GIF Industry Roundtable, which brought together representatives from the Korean nuclear energy sector. The session enabled GIF participants to hear directly from industry on their requirements, expectations, and interest in collaborating with GIF. It provided initial insights into industrial perspectives on deployment, supply chains, and commercialisation challenges, and established a foundation for continued structured dialogue between GIF and industry.
A dedicated Deep Dive session on non-electric and cogeneration applications of nuclear energy was also held. This workshop aimed to prioritise GIF systems and cogeneration applications for further exploration, gather input from GIF stakeholders and industry, and inform the development of the NECA Working Group’s 2026 work plan.
The meetings concluded with a tour of Doosan Enerbility, a major Korean company involved in the manufacturing and construction of nuclear power plant large components.
