Workshop Objectives

Advanced manufacturing technologies are critical to reducing costs, improving efficiency, and shortening deployment timelines for advanced nuclear reactors. Under the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Engineering Task Force (AMME-TF) collaborates with stakeholders to integrate these innovations into the supply chain, addressing regulatory, technical, and industry challenges.

The primary objective of this full-day workshop was to connect the GIF community with experts in advanced manufacturing and materials engineering to foster collaboration between researchers, regulators, and industry stakeholders. The event aimed to enhance knowledge of the latest advancements in manufacturing processes, while addressing qualification and certification needs for advanced reactor deployment.

Through plenary talks and breakout sessions, participants explored strategies to streamline the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies in nuclear applications. Topics included accelerated testing, computational modeling, and the qualification of materials and components for Gen IV systems. The discussions also focused on identifying gaps in the regulatory framework and standardization processes.
