This comprehensive volume offers an in-depth overview of Generation IV nuclear energy systems, reflecting the latest developments, achievements and trends in advanced reactor technologies. It builds on the success of the first edition (2016), which was the first publication dedicated exclusively to Generation IV nuclear-power reactors and related topics.
The second edition includes contributions from 72 experts across 13 countries, including several members of the GIF community. It begins with official information from the Generation IV International Forum and provides detailed coverage of the six Gen IV reactor concepts: VHTR, GFR, SFR, LFR, MSR and SCWR. It also presents national programmes, cross-cutting technical topics, and perspectives on future nuclear technologies such as fusion.
The Handbook is recommended for professionals in nuclear engineering, energy systems, and policy, as well as for academic audiences. It serves as a valuable reference for understanding the role of Generation IV systems in addressing global challenges related to energy sustainability, safety, non-proliferation, and environmental stewardship.
