About this webinar

Join us for a GIF hosted webinar to learn about the latest advancements in safety features and marketability for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Lead-cooled Fast Reactors (LFRs) by Blykalla.

Blykalla is currently focusing its efforts on demonstrating its SEALER concept in the USA, planning to commission a zero-power reactor in 2027, as well as taking its first demonstration reactor to criticality in 2029.

Blykalla’s safety concept is based on passive safety systems, that are able to manage unprotected station blackout and transient overpower events, relying on natural convection of the primary liquid lead coolant and a vessel air cooling system. The purpose of these systems is to create trust with stakeholders and customers wishing to locate SEALER reactors in the direct vicinity of their own facilities.

This webinar will give you the opportunity to gain insights into Blykalla’s safety concept and associated marketability.

A Q&A session will provide the room to build upon the initial presentation to further understand how Blykalla is working to bring a Gen IV reactor to reality.

This webinar is the eighth of a series where GIF engages with industry representatives to bridge national and international R&D programs, industry needs and challenges. It is also aimed at exploring new avenues for fruitful cooperation within the GIF community.
